Heliana VOD Named 2015 KWPN Mare Champion

The 3-year old dark bay Dutch warmblood mare Heliana V.O.D. (Davino VOD x Jazz) was named the 2015 KWPN Mare Champion at the 2015 KWPN Horse Days in Ermelo, The Netherlands, on Friday 14 August 2015.

Marian Dorresteijn, the chair of the selection committee, described the champion as a beautifully built and well moving mare. Twelve mares were picked for the champion's ring vying for the KWPN Mare Title. Four were picked to trot up once more for a final decision.

Heliana VOD is a typey mare with much expression and a lightfooted yet powerful way of moving. She is by Davino VOD out of the elite mare Zoriana (by Jazz). The champion is bred and owned by the Van Os family from Sprang-Capelle, The Netherlands.

Hulana T (by Ampere x Florencio) was named the reserve champion. Bred and owned by C. Twint, this well built, fantastic mover was also very convincing in the champion's ring.

Halesta (by Quadroneur x Weltart), bred by Stal 104, ranked third. This long lined mare has a beautiful front and moved with much power. Hester (by Apache x Jazz), bred by M. Tijssen and co-owned by Ad Valk), finished fourth.
