2015 KNHS Junior-Young Riders Cup

Junior rider Veronique van der Panne and young rider Dana van Lierop became the winners of the 2015 KNHS Junior-Young Rider Cup of which the finals were held at the national dressage show in Etten-Leur, The Netherlands, on 13 - 14 June 2015. Normally the finals are the last selection trial for Dutch team nomination, but this year the teams were already announced and there were a few drop-outs.

With all four Dutch team combinations, selected to compete at the 2015 European Junior Riders Championships in Vidauban in two weeks time, absent from the competition, the 16-year old Van der Panne got a smooth ride to winning both rounds aboard her bay Dutch bred Whatever (by Truppa). Trained by Thamar Zweistra, the combination scored 68.11% and 70.83%i in the kur to music for overall victory.

It was a great week for Veronique, who passed her school exams as well. "Nobody expected that," she joked. "I'm so happy. I won both tests."

For the 2015 KNHS Young Riders Finals in Etten-Leur two out of four Dutch team selected riders (the Nekeman sisters) were absent. Dana van Lierop and Jeanine Nekeman chose to compete in Etten-Leur after also contesting the CDI Compiegne last week in the lead-up to Vidauban.

Dana van Lierop on Equestricons Walkure Van Lierop freewheeled to victory aboard Jochen Arl's 10-year old Oldenburg mare Equestricons Walkure (by Romanov x Donnerschwee). She won both rounds with solid seventy percentage marks, earning 72.11% in the first round and 77.63% in the kur to total 149.74 points.

"It's so cool that I won," said Van Lierop. "It was a nice freestyle test. The judges fortunately like my Disney freestyle. The extended trot is cool and my pirouettes and tempi changes were textbook."
