Danish 5* judge and FEI Dressage Committee member Hans-Christian Matthiesen became the recipient of the 2015 Lis Hartel Memorial Prize which was handed to him at the 2015 Danish Dressage Championships in Broholm, Denmark, on Sunday 14 June 2015.

A veterinarian by profession, Matthiesen was actually surprized by the award as he thought he would be handing it to Sanne Henningsen instead as an official.

Her Royal Highness Princess Benedikte explained the choice to award Matthiesen the prize as following: "HC (Hans-Christian's nickname, pronounced as ho-say) has dedicated a significant part of his life to dressage. He has been a member of the Danish equestrian federation's board of directors, chair of the Danish selection committee and a team captain for the Danish junior and young riders' team. He is a member of the FEI Dressage Committee and knowns as a careful and respected international dressage judge at the highest level. Most recently he judged at the World Cup Finals."

The Lis Hartel Memorial Prize entails a 25,000 DKK cash prize, which Hans Christian will dedicate to the junior/young riders support group.
