What's Happening in the Dressage World?

The initiators of „Riding against Hunger“, Ullrich Kasselmann (P.S.I.) and Gudrun Bauer (Bauer Media Group), jointly invited 135 guests for the charity gala dinner at the Gestüt Osthoff in Georgsmarienhütte. This event in the festively decorated hall starred a special celebrity: the “Easy-Panic-Rider”, an art work in the shape of a horse, painted by no less than the German rock singer, writer and visual artist Udo Lindenberg.

It’s a unique sculpture, specially designed for “Riding against Hunger” and has no equivalent!

Following an exciting bidding duel, the patron of “Riding against Hunger”, Federal Defense Minister Dr. Ursula von der Leyen who also served as auctioneer, dropped the hammer at 100,000 euro. However, the new owner, Saad Hadi from Great Britain, immediately put the “Easy-Panic-Rider” up for auction again. Dr. Rüdiger Grube, head of Deutsche Bahn AG, accepted the bid of 80,000, so a total of 180,000 euro was raised for the project “Riding against Hunger”, supporting the German Agro Action with its charity actions. “An overwhelming result,” commented the two initiators Ulli Kasselmann and Gudrun Bauer who were pleased with the auction.

In the glamorous ambience and presented by tennis legend Michael Stich, well-known celebrity chefs provided the culinary setting of the charity event: star chef Jens Rittmeyer, head chef in the restaurant KAI 3 at the hotel Budersand on the island of Sylt, Germany’s most popular television chef Cornelia Poletto from Hamburg, star chef Lutz Niemann, welcoming his guests at the Orangery of the Maritim Seehotel in Timmendorfer Strand, and “last but not least” local hero and 3-star chef Thomas Bühner from the Osnabrück restaurant La Vie. All courses and dishes were served with exclusive wines of the Diel wineyard, and vintager Armin Diel explained the specialties of the sophisticated wines.

The Aborigine show group „Descendance“ welcomed all guests, matching the host country of Horses & Dreams this year. There were show acts between the courses, such as the presentation of a foal, bred by the Gestüt Osthoff, a special stallion from Paul Schockemöhle’s stable, the Australian singer Emmanuel Baldacchino “Manny” and horse acrobatics with Herbert Stein, his partner Stephanie Grewer and the black stallion Van Helbing.
