2015 Preis der Besten Qualifier

Pony rider Luna Laabs, junior riders Alexa Westendarp and Kristin Biermann and young rider Jil-Marielle Becks were the grand winners of the Preis der Besten qualifier held in Vechta, Germany, on 18 - 19 April 2015. While these youth riders were producing well scoring tests, all eyes were focused on the official show come back of Germany's most successful Grand Prix horse of recent days, Damon Hill, who put whopping marks of 78.9 and 82.5% on the board with his young rider!

In the pony division Luna Laabs and her 16-year old german riding pony Dow Jones (by Don't Worry x Castello) proved excellent form and scored a double whammy, winning the first round with 72.009 and the second round with 72.195%. She twice had the same duo of riders on her heels. Marei Flunkert and the 8-year old Daddy's Daydream were third on Saturday with 70.648% and second on Sunday with 71.870%. The more experienced Kim Burschnik and her buckskin Now and Forever Feivel (by Now or Never de Montmain x Millant) were second in round 1 (70.897) and third in round 2 (71.219%).

There were two winners in the junior riders classes. On Saturday the Wallenhorst based Alexa Westendarp topped the leader board on the 8-year old Hanoverian Der Prinz (by Diamond Hit x Davignon) with 71.712%. She had Kristin Biermann breathing down her neck though. Aboard the 11-year old Dutch warmblood Zwetcher (by Sir Sinclair x Jetset D), Biermann was second in round 1 with 71.307% and won the second round with 74.079%.

The spotlight turned completely on the official show come back of Helen Langehanenberg's multiple medal winning ride Damon Hill, a 15-year old Westfalian stallion by Donnerhall x Rubinstein). The liver chestnut stallion is now a schoolmaster for the owner's daughter Jil Mareille and is immediately proving his worth. The brand new duo won round 1 with 78.903% and scored a whopping 82.500% in the second round, the Young Riders individual test on Sunday. These scores are immediately making her the hottest contenders for individual gold at the 2015 European Young Riders Championships in Vidauban this summer, but it will be interesting to see what the duo is going to score at international, non-German based CDI's, instead of just the German young rider qualifiers. Bianca Nowag and the 11-year old Westfalian mare Fair Play RB (by Fidermark x Brentano II) were the runners-up twice with 74.824 and 75.877%.
