Pony and junior rider Semmieke Rothenberger and young riders Anna Christina Abbelen and Vivien Niemann were the winners of the youth riders classes at the 2015 Preis der Besten Qualifier held at Ann Kathrin Linsenhoff's gorgeous farm Schafhof in Kronberg, Germany, on 11 - 12 April 2015.
Semmieke Rothenberger continues to be unbeatable on her 2014 European Pony Champion Deinhard B, a 16-year old German riding pony stallion by Dornik B x Golden Dancer. The pair won both pony tests with 75.983% and 77.073%. Her cousin Nadine Krause was the runner-up on both days but she placed second in the first round with her 9-year old palomino Cyrill (by Champion de Luxe x Power Man) on a score of 73.205% and second with the 12-year old Danilo (by Dornik B x Power Boy) on 72.949%.
The pony division in Kronberg was quite an interesting one to watch with several German new comers on the scene or routinier ponies making a come back under new riders. Valentina Pistner made her official big league debut on the 2011 European Pony Champion Champ of Class. Former Dutch and German team pony Equestricons Lord of Champion resurfaced with a new ride, Luise Ostermann and Eileen Henglein presented the former German team pony Cinderella M, who disappeared from the scene due to injury. Inga Katharina Schuster surfaced as the new owner and rider of the former Dutch competed pony Dr. Watson (Febe van Zwambagt).
In the Junior Rider category Semmieke Rothenberger also proved to be the strongest on her black Danish warmblood mare Geisha (by Gribaldi x Weltmeister). She scored 73.243% and 74.342% to win both rounds. Paulina Holzknecht and Jonas Schmitz-Heinen's 12-year old Hanoverian gelding Wells Fargo (by Welser x Fabriano) were the runners-up twice with 70.811% and 71.886%
The competition in the young riders divsion was more cutting edge with two winners turning up that weekend. The first round was won by Anna Christina Abbelen on her 2014 European Junior Rider champion Furst on Tour, a 10-year old Rhinelander gelding by Furst Heinrich x Rubioso N. She scored 71.316% but had Vivien Nieman on the 9-year old Hanoverian Don Vertino (by Don Frederico x Weltmeyer) right on her heels with 71.184%.
In the second round for Young Riders on Sunday the two ladies swapped placed with Niemann taking home the trophy with a 73.509% earning ride. Abbelen scored 71.228% to finish second.
The 2015 Preis der Besten are held in May in Warendorf, Germany, and are the inofficial German Youth Riders Championships. The event serves as the first official team qualifier for the upcoming European Championships for Pony, Junior and Young Riders
