Swedish Isabelle Tovek and German Joline Thüning took centre stage in the young riders classes at the 2015 CDI Stadl Paura on 1 - 5 April 2015. Tovek won Young Rider team test with a score of 70.614%, leaving Germany’s Joline Thuning and Don Dayly rising from third in the Team test to win the Individual and kur with 71,053% and 75,167%.

Isabella Tovek says that 14-year old Danish warmblood Connery (by Come Back II x Port Royal xx) felt very smooth and focused during that first test in particular.

“In the warm-up he was already really listening to me so we made a mistake free test and the judges really liked us,” said 20-year old Isabella. “Connery is a very nice horse that likes to work everyday, but he is a sensitive horse so you can't push him to much.”

Dropping to 8th and 6th in the Individual and kur tests, Isabella was happy overall with her results, after a particularly long and windy trip. Taking two days to make the trip from Sweden to Stadl Paura, Isabella stopped over in Berlin. Because of the weather they had to travel very slowly.

“When we arrived at Stadl Paura the stable had blown down, but luckily they had organized very quickly for us to get into permanent stables.”

Purchased in Denmark, Connery improves at every show and is getting better and better all the time.

“My trainer is Stefan Jansson from Varberg, Sweden, and I have been training for him for about one year. Since I started to train with Stefan everything has been so much better for me and Connery," she explained. "I have tried to find a Grand Prix horse for one year, but have had no success. I hope to find a Grand Prix horse soon, so I can learn and go to the U25 next year.”

German Joline Thuning climbed her way to the top rung of the ladder in the individual and kur on her new ride, the 13-year old Oldenburg bred Don Dayly (by Depardieu x Don Primero).

“My horse felt great,” 19-year old Joline told Eurodressage, “He always payed attention and he really wanted to do his best. It was a great feeling and I feel us coming together as a team more and more with each competition.”

Don Dayly was purchased from Victoria Michalke in Munich and Joline says their are still things they can improve on.

“I think our tests at Stadl Paura were already good but still it was never completely without mistakes," she admitted.

Trained by Oliver Oelrich in Lengerich, Joline plans to ride the 2015 Preis der Besten and then the German qualifiers for the 2015 European Young Riders Championships in Wiesbaden and Balve.

“This year is my second in Young Riders so I still have one more to go. Therefore, my first step is to continue being successful at this level, and then take it step by step," she staid.
