2015 CDIO Wellington

The showgrounds in Wellington, Florida, are being readied to welcome riders competing in the second leg of the 2015 FEI Nations' Cup dressage series on 24 - 28 March 2015. The series, which is in its third pilot year, kicked off last weekend at Bernadette Brune's Domaine Equestre des Grands Pins in Vidauban, France. While Team Germany won the opening leg in Vidauban, team USA 2 are the favourites for the victory in Florida.

The CDIO Wellington takes place in a different format from all the other CDIO competitions in the world as the North American leg has a mixed format of small tour and big tour combinations which serves as qualifier for the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto, Canada.

For the 2015 Wellington edition nine teams are scheduled to compete with the biggest nations, the U.S.A. and Canada, both fielding two teams.

A maximum of four combinations can make up a team and the results of the three best riders in the PSG, Inter I, Grand Prix and Special will count for the end result. Grand Prix riders earn an extra 1.5% for both the Grand Prix and the Special. Teams need at least one Grand Prix combination to be eligible to qualify for the Pan Ams.
