The appeals' committee of the Danish Equestrian Federation has now cast its final verdict in the Andreas Helgstrand case concerning abuse to his horse Akeem Foldager on 12 April 2014. On 28 January 2015 the commitee decided to give Helgstrand a warning.

The commitee, which was chaired by Ole Lindgreen, ruled that Helgstrand applied "improper use of bit and bridle." He is now warned that he can not repeat this within a two year time period or it will be considered an aggravated circumstance.

Helgstrand can now be considered again for Danish team nomination if he proves form and earns his scores on Akeem Foldager.  The rider will need to fulfil the requirements of the Sport Plan 2015.

On 28 November 2014 the Court of Aalborg already acquitted Andreas Helgstrand of the charge of animal cruelty
