Finnish WEG team rider Emma Kanerva injured herself in a car accident on Friday 9 January 2015. On her way to her home town in Borchen-Etteln, Germany, Kanerva got hit by a car who failed to yield the right of way.

The crash was quite severe with airbags going off that caused bruising on Emma's chest. She was transported to the hospital and has been hospitalized for the past three days. Emma will be released to go home today, Monday 12 January 2015.

"Luckily I survived with some bruises on my chest and on my left hand. I need to have rest for a few more days," Kanerva told Eurodressage.

Emma had planned on competing at the 2015 CDN Munster last weekend, where she was set to make her show debut on Nancy Gooding's 9-year old Hanoverian Flynn PCH (by Falsterbo x Walt Disney). Emma has taken over the ride from her coach Hubertus Schmidt and was ready to introduce the sympathetic Flynn at Grand Prix level.
