After 50 years of activity, the Belgian Warmblood Society has chosen to remodel its management structure. "Everything, also the horse sector, changes. It was time to adapt ourselves to that change,” said BWP President Kris Keersmaekers at a BWP press conference.

In order to be ready for the future, the management model has been adapted to present day needs. We would like to implement the changes as soon as possible and, therefore, advanced elections will be organized in the first quarter of 2015. The changing management model of course has consequences for the breeding society itself and for the secretariat in particular. The item “Marketing” plays an important role here. The active promotion of the breeding society, the horse and the breeder is considered to be a better service to the BWP members. In order to emphasize that item, some shifts were necessary.

It appears from the financial data that BWP is doing well right now, even better than expected, thanks to the increased number of registered foals in 2014.

The press conference in the Azelhof facilities in Lier was a prelude to the Second Phase of the Stallion Selection which will also take place in Azelhof from January 22- 24, 2015. The programme of the stallion approval has been slightly changed, but the big news is  the announcement that BWP will again organize a stallion auction during those stallion days. This “BWP Top Stallion Auction” will be presented by Lieve De Greeff, who is responsible for the organization of the auction, and rider Marc Van Dijck who will assume an advisory role.

Lieve de Greeff : “The aim of the auction is primarily to create sales and to promote our studbook and horses. We experience that there is a huge interest in the Belgian horses and in the BWP horses in particular. So, time has come to organize a new auction. The Azelhof facilities are a beautiful location in the centre of our country. The stallion selection itself is the ideal platform to organize a stallion auction. The stallions are preselected,  well prepared and underwent the prescribed veterinary examinations. These are all positive elements. Moreover, we expect some 4000 to 5000 visitors. It can hardly go wrong”.
