Belgian Young rider team member Jorinde Verwimp has been nominated for the 2014 VLP Talent of the Year competition. This Belgian Talent competition is an initiative of the Flemmish Equestrian Federation, a subdivision of the Belgian Equestrian Federation.

The 20-year old Jorinde Verwimp made history this year by winning Kur to Music bronze at the 2014 European Young Riders Championships in Arezzo, Italy. Verwimp has also made the transition to the Under 25 Grand Prix division on an international level in September.

Verwimp is going head to head with Belgian show jumper Pieter Clemens. The 20-year old Clemens was winner of the CSI 2* in Oslo and third in the CSIO 3* Nations Cup in Budapest.

A rider can become VLP Talent of the Year only once in his career. Verwimp was also nominated for the title in 2013 but became the runner-up both in 2013 and 2012. Only once, a dressage rider has won the competition. In 2010 Belgian WEG team rider Julie de Deken was voted Belgian Talent of the Year.

The VLP Talent of the Year is determined by an expert and a public vote. The voting starts today 18 November 2014 and ends on 1 December 2014. The winner gets a 7,500 cheque which they can spend on training.

The public can vote for Verwimp and Clemens here.
