Fine Time, Eastwood, Dragao Figueiras Win 2014 Spanish Young Horse Championships

2014 Spanish Young Horse Championships

The 4-year old Fine Time, the 5-year old Eastwood and the 6-year old Dragao Figueiras were the winners of the 2014 Spanish Young Horse Championships held in Toledo, Spain, on 26 - 28 September 2014. These national Championships also hosted classes for Spain's Developing Prix St Georges horses which were won by Dai Colori Vistosi.

In the 4-year old division Juan Francisco Fernandez and the Hanoverian bred Fine Time (by Furst Nymphenburg) grabbed the national title after placing fourth in the first round (75.800) and winning the second one (80.600) to finish on a winning total of 274.900 points. Alba Abollo Fontela and the Hanoverian bred Elvillar CS (by Espriwall) scored 76.200% and 78.800% to get silver (271.900 pts). Laura Rodero Segura the Oldenburg branded Soleil (by Furstenball) won the qualifier with 78.800 but dropped to a ninth place in the second round (76.800). Still they ended with bronze on 271.800 points.

Spanish Grand Prix rider Jordi Domingo Coll ruled the 5-year old division on the Dutch warmblood bred Mango Eastwood (by Wynton). The 5-year olds in Spain have to three rounds at the National Championships. Eastwood scored 80.00%; 77.600% and 81.400 to win with 359.200 points. Carlos Nieto and the Oldenburg Florianus got the silver after scoring 74.00%, 82.200% and 80.200%. Jose Miguel Egea and the Dutch bred bred Elcapone (by Wynton) finished third ith 79.600, 75.00 and 80.40%

In the 6-year old division Spanish WEG team rider Jose Antonio Garcia Mena steered the Lusitano bred Dragao Figueiras (by Unico) to victory after achieving a hattrick, winning all three rounds with solid scores in the eighties. The pair posted scores of 85.40, 87.20 and 83.40%.  Garcia Mena also earned silver with the Dutch bred Doctor de Encinasola (by Scandic) scoring 83.60, 83,60 and 83.40%. Alberto Garcia and the Hanoverian Delinger (by Don Frederico) ended up with the bronze. They were in a strong third position after two rounds (77.20, 77.00%) but dropped to a 9th spot (73.20%) in the third round. Their overall total still put them third.

In the Developing Prix St Georges horse division the horses also had to perform three tests. The podium was occupied by Alvaro Manuel Martin de la Fuente taking the highest step and gold medal with his Hanoverian Dai Colori Vistosi (by Danone). They were first three times with 71.065%, 72.500% and 75.250%. The silver place went to Sandra Pena on the Hanoverian Sabbatik Rubi (by Rotspon) after scoring 65.787%, 67.325% and 70.458%. Jordi Domingo and the Hanoverian Statesman (by Sandro Hit) got the bronze with 67.731%, 69.123% and 67.875%.
