2014 World Championships for Young Dressage Horses

For the first time in several years, two pure pred Spanish PRE Stallions have been selected by the Spanish Equestrian Federation to represent Spain at the 2014 World Championships for Young Dressage Horses in Verden, Germany, on 7 - 10 August 2014. The 5-year olds Genciano BCN and Jamaicano de Ymas III will be representing the PRE breed in Verden, but for the first time one of them will be ridden by a Dutch rider, multiple World Young Horse Champion Emmelie Scholtens.

The three times World Champion rider Emmelie Scholtens from The Netherlands will showcase the exceptionally moving Genciano BCN (by Datil out of Genciana), owned by Agusti Elias and Annabelle Collins of Barcelona Horses based at Can Alzina, home of the Barcelona Dressage Tour and CDI events held there  annually in March.

“This is a very exciting prospect for us to have our horse represented in Verden with a rider such as Emmelie," said Agusti Elias. "After sending Genciano BCN to her to try for one month last year, we were over the moon to hear how much she loved to ride him. It is a dream for us to have a Spanish horse of his quality represented by a top rider like her."

It is a remarkable fact that this is the first time a non-spanish rider from one of the world's leading dressage nations will present a Spanish horse at the World Young Horse Championships. Emmelie has no less than four horses qualified for Verden, three she will ride for the KWPN society and Genciano BCN for the PRE society.

“I am very excited," Scholtens commented about her historic entry with an Andalusian bred horse. "He is so nice and he is very talented. I am really looking forward to riding him in Verden."

In 2010 and 2011, Emmelie was repeat World Champion with the KWPN stallion Asterix, and in 2009 she became World Champion on the now Grand Prix horse Westpoint.

The 2014 World Championships for Young Dressage Horses start on Thursday 7 August 2014 with the preliminary test for 5-year olds. Don't miss the big moving, striking grey PRE Stallion, Genciano BCN!
