Gestüt Vorwerk in Cappeln is equipped and will be ready for the 2014 CDI 4* Cappeln. The tradition-rich sport and breeding facility in the heart of Oldenburg-Münsterland will be the venue of Dressur Cappeln International from 1 - 3 August 2014. It has been four years since Vorwerk hosted a CDI, the last time being in the WEG year of 2010.

The four-star dressage event scheduled at short notice by the Max-Theurer family is mainly intended as a last chance to practice under show conditions before the World Equestrian Games take place the end of August.

“We took a look at the show calendar and saw that there were no shows where riders could practice just before the championships in the Normandy“, explained Sissy Max-Theurer, “and so we spontaneously decided to organize a show.” The Austrian Olympic winner in dressage has plenty of experience in organizing shows: For 25 years now, an international dressage show is held each year at the Max-Theurer family’s Schloss Achleiten in Austria. In 2010, the Fest der Dressur show was held at Gestüt Vorwerk, which has been owned by the Max-Theurer family since 2009 and is where their broodmares and young horses are kept.

Top stars from the dressage scene have accepted the invitation to Dressur Cappeln International and, of course, Victoria Max-Theurer will also be there. Sissy Max-Theurer’s daughter placed fifth in the EC, second in the Meggle Champions Trophy, third in the Grand Prix of Aachen and was Austrian State Champion eleven times – just to mention a few of her achievements. Most recently she had a special kind of series of first places with her top horses Augustin OLD and Blind Date. At the 20th Manfred Swarovski Memorial Show in Fritzens/AUT, she was the best rider in the Grand Prix Special tour and the Grand Prix Freestyle tour and, since it was her third overall victory, she was the first female rider to be awarded the coveted Swarovski perpetual trophy for keeps.

There will not only be just great riders – there will also be first class judges: five five-star judges will attend, three of which will also be judges at the World Equestrian Games in the Normandy.

Six tests are scheduled for the Dressur Cappeln International show. On Friday there will be a qualifier Grand Prix for the Freestyle on Saturday and a qualifier Grand Prix for the Special on Sunday. The short international tour on Saturday will include a St. Georges and on Sunday an Inter I.

“Since there wasn’t much time to get Dressur Cappeln International up and running, we are extremely busy right now, of course“, explained Sissy Max-Theurer “but Gestüt Vorwerk offers the best prerequisites per se for absolutely top level sport.” Documented as early as 1320, the farm has been painstakingly restored and great attention paid to the many loving details. It is one of the most beautiful stud farms in Germany. This is where some of the greatest sires of their time resided such as Furioso II, Zeus and Rubinstein. Sissy Max-Theurer: “We are looking forward to a sport competition in a small but fine setting.”
