The Rhinelander licensed breeding stallion Furst Piccolo has died suddenly on Monday morning 16 June 2014. The 17-year old liver chestnut stallion collapsed and died right after covering on the phantom.

Furst Piccolo was born in 1997 at Johannes Baumeister's yard. He was by Fidermark out of Medusa (by Mephistopheles x Rembrandt). He became a premium stallion at the 1999 Westfalian Stallion Licensing and won the 100-day Stallion Performance Testin in Warendorf in 2000. He scored a dressage index of 141.73 and a total of 136.98.

The rather small (1.63m) Furst Piccolo competed up to S-level but his career was mainly focused on breeding. With a breeding index of 147 he was one of the most successful dressage stallions in Germany.

He sired 68 State Premium mares and 17 licensed sons. His most famous offspring includes Grand Prix horse Furst Friedrich, Isabell Werth's Nurnberger Burgpokal finalist Flatley, and Christina Pantzar's small tour horse Freestyle.
