The FEI Bureau disclosed that Anna Paprocka-Campanella has won the online voting to become the FEI Dressage Athletes’ representative on the FEI Dressage Committee.

Grand Prix riders Anna Paprocka Campanella (ITA) and Laura Bechtolsheimer (GBR) were in the running to become the Riders' Representative on the FEI Dressage Committee.

For the first time in the 93-year history of the FEI, the athletes themselves have the opportunity to vote for their FEI Athlete Representatives.

A staggeringly low amount of FEI athletes actually voted! For dressage only 58 athletes voted out of 632 who are eligible.

FEI registered athletes, aged 18 years and over, and who are included on their respective Ranking Lists from 31 December 2013, will be eligible to vote for their Athlete Representative.

The election took place via a secure online voting platform, which had posed some problems for North American based voters initially.

The term in office of the athlete representative on the relevant Technical Committee will start at the same time as those of the other committee members, i.e. on the Monday following the FEI General Assembly. The appointed FEI Athlete Representatives in each discipline will also form the FEI Athletes’ Committee when the FEI’s Technical Committees require feedback and proactive input on areas relevant to all FEI athletes.

"Today I was informed by the FEI that I have been elected as a member of the FEI Dressage Committe," Campanella commented after hearing the news. "My duty will consist on representing all dressage riders. Even if the right to vote had only ranked grand prix riders, I would like to thank everyone for the support, trust and Time that dedicated me on this occasion, all pony, junior and young riders, all international and national riders, trainers, judges and stewards. I am extremely happy that so many people shared my ideas and trusted me that I will share and represent their ideas. I feel really proud to get this position and I can promise that I will do all my best to meet your expectations."
