The Dutch senior riders of the A and B-team participated in a two-day training camp in preparation of the Dutch World Equestrian Games selection trials which are set to begin in June.

The senior riders gathered in Vorden, The Netherlands, on 26 and 27 May 2014 for training under the supervision of team coach Wim Ernes. The participating riders were Adelinde Cornelissen, Edward Gal, Hans Peter Minderhoud, Danielle Heijkoop, Katja Gevers, Diederik van Silfhout, Marlies van Baalen and Laurens van Lieren.

Riders not present were Tommie Visser, who is still dealing with the legal woes concerning his ride Vingino, and Patrick van der Meer, who was on his way to the CDI Munich with Uzzo and Zippo.

On the first day riders had to perform the Grand Prix test, which was assessed by Ernes. On the second day there was a regular training session. Both sessions were recorded on video. During the Grand Prix and the training session the heart rate of each horse  and rider was monitored and the results were analysed and discussed by expert Cees van Bokhoven.

"We were also advised by a nutricionist, Ad Wagemakers talked about the upcoming show schedule and team vet Jan Greve drew blood of each horse to check their fitness," Marlies van Baalen explained. "We also practised the vet inspectio. It was an educational and successful training camp."

All riders of the Dutch team that rode at the 2013 European Championships will be competing at the 2014 CDI Arnheim in two weeks.
