British Olympic team gold medallist Carl Hester will be riding the 2013 Pavo Cup champion Everdale in the 2014 KWPN Stallion Competition Finals held during the 2014 KWPN Stallion Licensing in 's Hertogenbosch, The Netherlands, on Friday 7 February 2014. Hester has obtained a guest rider's license in order to be eligible to compete Everdale.

"We think it's a unique oppportynity to show Everdale to the public under one of the world's best riders," Van Olst stated. "Besides the die has already been cast for the final ranking of the competition and very little will change to the provisional ranking."

Hester told Eurodressage he sat on Everdale for the first time today (Thursday 6 Feb). "I always was crazy about him but didn't have time to qualify him. He's amazing horse and will have to carry me."

Everdale (by Lord Leatherdale x Negro x Corona) is bred by Piet Kluytmans and owned by Gert-Jan van Olst. He was the winner of the 2012 KWPN Stallion Performance Testing and won the 2013 Pavo Cup Finals under Spanish Severo Jurado Lopez.

After the summer Van Olst's new young horse dressage rider Benjamin Maljaars took over the ride on Everdale and qualified the stallion for the finals of the 2013-2014 KWPN Stallion Competition show circuit.

In the 4-year old L-level division of the Competition, El Capone is in the lead with 274 points, followed by Expression (263 points), Eye Catcher (251 points) and Everdale (249 points). These points still count in the finals and will be added to the score they achieve in Den Bosch.

Carl Hester is attending the 2014 KWPN Stallion Licensing on Friday as Valegro will (most likely) be named KWPN Horse of the Year 2013. Hester will also be giving a demonstration aboard Van Olst's 7-year old small tour stallion Chippendale (by Lord Leatherdale).
