No Dressage Amongst 2013 USEF Equestrian and Horse of the Year Nominees

With the announcement of the nominees for the 2013 USEF Equestrian and Horse of the Year award, it stands out that this year no dressage rider nor Grand Prix dressage horse have been selected for these prestigious American awards.

The 2013 winners will be recognized at the USEF Year-End Awards Gala in January 2014 - part of the USEF Annual Meeting - at the Hyatt Regency Lexington in Lexington, Ky. Additionally, each USEF Horse of Honor will be inducted into the Horse Stars Hall of Fame at the Equus Fête Cheval Étoile on Sunday 16 March 12014 at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center in Wellington, Fla.

For 2013 the USEF Equestrian of the Year nominees are Beezie Madden (show jumping), Cheser Weber (driving), Crhis and Sonya Bickford (Arabian/Friesian), Liza Boyd (hunter), Jim Stachowski (Arabian), Rick Gervasio (Morgan), Bruce Griffin (Friesian), and Martha Rattner (Arabian).

For 2013 the USEF Horse of the Year nominees on an international level are A Ruf Gal (reining), Sam (driving), and Simon (show jumping).

In the past the Browning's Floriano, Akiko Yamazaki's Ravel, Bruce Hlavacek's Weltino's Magic, and Perry Thomas' Brentina were nominated for the Horse of the Year Award (Ravel and Brentina won).  Carol Lavell (1992), Debbie McDonald (1999), and Steffen Peters (2008, 2009, 2011) were USEF Riders of the Year.
