With the last qualifier taking place in Nurnberg, Germany, last weekend, the complete list of finalists for the 2013 Nurnberger Burgpokal Final is known. This German based Developing Prix St Georges Horse Championship is well attended by many international riders and is one of the dressage highlights on the calendar. The Final is held annually during the Frankfurt Indoor Show mid December.
Horses eligible for the Nurnberger Burgpokal circuit have to be between the age of 7 and 9, which means this year that they have to be born between 2004 and 2006. At competitions they have to perform the Prix St Georges Special test, a test that only seems to be ridden in Germany.
Most horses which have qualified for the Finals are quite well known and came to this point by successfully running through the young horse program and competing at renowned events such as the World Young Horse Championships in Verden or the Bundeschampionate in Warendorf.
Horses qualified for the 2013 Nurnberger Burgpokal Finals are:
