2013 Swiss Young Horse Championships

The 4-year old Show Girl, the 5-year old Delioh von Buchmatt and the 6-year old Fuerstentraum were the winners of the 2013 Swiss Warmblood Young Horse Championships held in Avenches, Switzerland on 13 - 15 September 2013. The young horse championships turned out to be a family affair with Melanie Hofmann winning the 4 and 5-year old divisions and her husband Gilles Ngovan the 6-year old category.

Melanie Hofmann and the Swiss bred mare Show Girl (by Show Star x Davignon) led the qualification round as well as the finals for the 4-year olds. In the latter test, which counted for the title, Christina Ernst's mare, who was the Swiss Warmblood Mare Champio in 2012, scored a total of 7.988 to win the champion's sash. Tamara Horisberger and her own Swiss gelding Magic des Meuyrattes (by Munchhausen x Riccio) were the runners-up with 7.288. the bronze went to Corinne Stingelin on the chestnut mare Donna vom Eigen (by Don Frederico x Weltmeyer) with 7.275.

Melanie Hofmann and Delioh von Buchmatt In the 5-year old division Hofmann and her more ring savvy black gelding Delioh von Buchmatt (by Danone x Wolkenstein II) strutted their stuff and won the title with a total of 7.55. Delioh von Buchmatt already represented Switzerland at the 2013 World Young Horse Championships in Verden in August and now added the national title to his list of achievements. The gelding is owned by Jorg Aeberhard. Stephanie Leuenberger and the mare Well Done de la Roche CMF (by Furstentraum x Walt Disney) claimed silver with 7.47 points. Well Done is owned by Brigitte Bigar. Michele Schweizer slotted in third aboard Bruno Kammermann's Diva M (by Don Frederico x Weltmeyer) on a score of 7.10.

Gilles Ngovan on Furstentraum Gilles Ngovan produced a hat trick aboard Christina Ernst's chestnut gelding Furstentraum by winning his third, consecutive Swiss Young Horse Title; this year in the 6-year old division. The Feinsinn x Davignon offspring scored 67.58% in the final. Doris Härdi and the Swiss mare Renaissance WM (by Sir Donnerhall I x Rubinstein) edged out Silvia Schneider and finished in silver medal place with 66.08%. Schneider and Hans Rudolf Reusser's gelding Dali RR (by De Niro x Rubinstein) were third with 65.62%.
