2013 Bundeschampionate

The 2013 Bundeschampionate in Warendorf, Germany, got a touch of glam on Saturday evening 7 September 2013 when twelve German Grand Prix riders entered the arena for a quadrille to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the DOKR, the German Olympic Equestrian Committee.

At the head of the quadrille with her 2009 German European Team Championship horse Whisper (by Welt Hit I) was Monica Theodorescu who performed in front of a public for the first time since her show hiatus one year ago after becoming the German team trainer.

Theodorescu was responsible for assembling the twelve Grand Prix riders for this initiative and they only practised two times before the show at the Bundeschampionate. The quadrille included riders such as Hubertus Schmidt, Anabel Balkenhol, Fabienne Lutkemeier, Jan Hermann and Helen Langehanenberg as well as German co-team trainer Jonny Hilberath.

The combinations rode synchronous piaffes, tempi changes on the diagonal and brought fun to the show ring in Warendorf.

The DOKR was founded on 3 January 1913 by crown prince Wilhelm who the German equestrian elite to found the "Committee for the Horse Competitions at the 1916 Berlin Olympic Games". This committee was the forerunner of today's German Olympic Equestrian Committee (DOKR) in Warendorf.
