Junior rider Kevin Roegele Ano and young rider Erik Balasch Gonzalez became the grand champions at the 2013 Spanish Junior and Young Riders Championships already held indoors in Oviedo, Spain, on 29 August - 1 September 2013.
Aboard the 10-year old Dutch warmblood Wieske (by Obelisk out of Lady Two), Roegele started strong by finishing second in the team championships test (69.433%) and then held tight to the lead in the next two rounds. The pair scored 68.710% in the individual and 70.525% in the Kur to Music to win the National Title with a score average of 69.556%. Maria Dolores Moncayola and her dark bay Dutch bred Zchufro C (by Don Schufro out of Gicara) finished in silver medal position after some ups and downs at the Championship. She won the first round with 69.649% but then dropped to 8th place with 66.053% in round two. The pair recovered and slotted in third in the kur with 70.075% and this mixture of scores resulted in a silver average of 68.592%. Xavier Adsere and his 19-year old Dutch bred Managament (by Investment) were good for bronze with an average of 68.370%.
In the Young Riders division Erik Balasch Gonzalez felt very little opposition, winning all three rounds to finish on an average score of 69.046% to earn gold. Aboard his 14-year old German bred Dorado (by Danny de Vito) Balasch consistently improved his scores going from 66.710% in the team test to 68.079% in the individual and 72.350% in the Kur. The soon to be 21-year old Balasch, who is studying at the International University of Catalunya, is actually aiming for a professional career as a dressage rider and is already training students himself. Josep Bassols Sepulveda and the 12-year old Hanoverian bred Dustin (by Don Primero out of Amore) earned the silver with an average of 67.814%. Laura Mangado Salvatierra and her 13-year old Dutch warmblood Tempo (by Negro x Metall) slotted in bronze medal position with 67.206%.
