Laragh Hamilton Injured in Riding Accident

Irish Grand Prix rider Laragh Hamilton sustained an unlucky fall at Danescroft and got severely injured. The former Irish Grand Prix champion is in the hospital after breaking her pelvis and sustaining internal injuries.

Hamilton has been transferred out of the high dependency unit and is now lying up in her hospital bed feeling a bit stiff and sore but remaining positive for a full recovery.

Laragh Hamilton is one of the most successful Irish dressage riders of her generation. A former under 21 national champion she was a member of the Irish team at the 2003 and 2004 European Young Riders Championships in Saumur and Aarhus. At the age of 23 Laragh won her first national championship at Cavan Equestrian Centre in 2006.

In 2007 as a senior international rider she and the Rakish Paddy mare Claggan Roxy Music placed third in the Grand Prix Special at the CDI3* show in Hartpury, Great Britain. Laragh won her second national title at Necarne Castle, County Fermanagh a year later before returning to Cavan in 2011 to claim the title for a third time.
