The 5-year old mare Cassiopaya and the 6-year old stallion Lord Carnaby won the Bundeschampionate qualification classes held at the regional show at Gut Haller in Kaarst-Büttgen on 30 May - 2 June 2013. Three horses topped the leader board in the two L and M-level classes.
Fresh in the saddle after giving birth to her first baby, Jan Freund steered the Rhinelander mare Cassiopaya (by Cassini Boy Junior x Lanciano) to victory in the 5-year old division. The duo scored a total of 7.8 and got 8 for trot, 7 for walk, 8.5 for canter, 7.5 for submission and 8 for general impression. The pair tied in first place with Beatrice Buchwald on the Rhinelander stallion Quanticus (by Quaterback x Sandro Hit). This combination got 8.5 for trot, 7.5 for walk, 8 for canter, 7 for submission and 8 for general impression.
Beatrice Buchwald and the licensed Rhinelander stallion Lord Carnaby (by Lord Loxley x Rocket Star) won the 6-year old preliminary test with 8.3. The judges awarded the pair 8.5 for trot and walk, 9 for canter, 7 for submission and 8.5 for general impression. Lydia Camp and the Westfalian mare Felice (by Furst Piccolo x Ehrentanz) were the runners-up with 8.1. They got 8 for trot, 7.5 for walk, 8.5 for canter, 8 for submission and 8.5 for general impression. Two riders finished third with the Warendorf qualification score of 8.0: Paulina Krafft on Der Kleine Muck (by Don Romantic x Rubinstein) and Stefanie Wittmann on Rubin (by Royal Blend x Wolkenstein II).
