Trakehner Breeding News

Last week Monica Theodorescu's former Grand Prix mare Renaissance Fleur had to be humanely put down at age 21 due to reduced mobility to the leg which she fractured in 2003.

The grey Trakehner mare (by Tuareg x Seeadler x Igor) was bred and owned by Elke von Lingelsheim. The talented mover started an immaculate career in dressage. Under Monica Theodorescu she experienced a career highlight when she won the World Cup qualifier in Neumünster in February 2003. Only a few days "Reni's" career was short-circuited by a complicated leg fracture.

Elke von Lingelsheim her family and a veterinary team spared no effort to enable the mare a life worth living. Due to good care-taking Renaissance was able to gave birth to three daughters in the following years. The first one, State premium mare Roulette (by Summertime) is now a breeding mare at Monica Lindstedt's Swedish Stjarnbro Gard.  State Premium Mare Reminiszens, a chestnut filly by Kaiser Wilhelm passed a very good mare test in 2012 and is still standing at Lingelheim's barn in Rondeshagen and will start a career in dressage. Renaissance's third daughter, Residence, is a lovely grey filly by  Hibiskus. She is now 3 years old and is spending one more summer at home.

Renaissance enjoyed her last spring with fresh grass and sunshine after a very long winter. But in her last days the detrimental health effects of her old injury forced her owner to take the difficult decision to let her go. Renaissance was a very special horse with an outstanding personality and she is missed in Rondeshagen.
