The 5-year old Deep Purple and the 6-year old Stand By Me won the Bundeschampionate qualification classes held at the regional show at Anakenenhof in Hamburg-Pinneberg on 8 May 2013. No less than 38 horses gathered for this event in order to try to qualify for the Bundeschampionate in Warendorf in September and eight 5-year olds and four 6-year olds succeeded at that.
Esther Maruhn and the 5-year old Hanoverian stallion Deep Purple (by Don Frederico x Weltruhm) scored 8.5 to win the L-level dressage horse test. The combination received 9 for trot and canter, 7.5 for walk and 8.5 for submission and general impression. Lena Stegemann and the Oldenburg licensed stallion Scuderia (by Sir Donnerhall I x Escudo) finished second with 8.4 overall. The black stallion, which was bred in Great Britain by Fiona James and Nicola McGivern, scored 9 for trot, 8 for walk and canter and 8.5 for submission and general impression.
In the 6-year old division Norwegian Isabel Bache steered the Oldenburg gelding Stand By Me (by Stedinger x De Niro) to victory with a convincing score of 8.7. The gelding earned 9 for trot and canter, and 8.5 for walk, submission and general impression. Bache also steered the Swedish bred Bobcat (by Breitling x Silvano) to a second place with 8.6. The combination got 8.5 for walk, trot, canter and general impression and 9.0 for submission.
