What's Happening in the Dressage World?

German dressage maecenas Arlette Jasper-Kohl has become the proud owner of an embryotransfer filly by Sezuan out of World Young Horse champion mare Donna Unique. At her yard Gestut Peterhof in Perl, Germany, a black filly was born out of surrogate mare Pauline.

Marian Dorresteijn, KWPN Stallion Licensing committee member, dressage rider and sister to Coby van Baalen, has been submitted to the hospital in Utrecht, The Netherlands, after falling off a horse. She broke five ribs and got pneumothorax but will make a full recovery.

The grey KWPN licensed stallion Velazquez (by Krack C x Alasca x Ramiro) has been sold to Dutch junior rider Laura Quint. The stallion was trained to small tour level by Sabina van Ruitenbeek.

Danish based Dutch dressage rider Anke ter Beek is pregnant with her second child. She will be expecting a boy this summer. Ter Beek already has one son, Sebastian.

Fiona Bigwood's long time groom Liz Geldard got married to Peter Walsh on 5 April 2013. Geldard has also moved to Ireland to start a new life with her husband.

2012 European Junior Riders Champion Dana van Lierop got her driver's licence. Congratulations !

The Dutch Kruininger family, which owns the licensed stallion Chinook (by Vivaldi x Havidoff), has acquired the small tour horse Ulysse, also known as President's Utility (by Jazz x Rouletto). The bay was competed at young riders' level by Stephanie Kooijman.

2010 European Junior Riders' Champion Charlott Maria Schurmann has acquired the full brother to the 2012 Nurnberger Burgpokal winner Burlington (by Breitling x Rohdiamant). Schurmann already bought the now 2-year old full brother a year ago from breeder Hans-Heinrich Oltmann and is preparing the stallion for the licensing.

Dressur Sa Klart reported that the Norwegian owned 9-year old Bergeruds Aragorn (by Alfas Arnt x Cannon Row xx) sold to Kine Alexandra Pedersen. The past four years the dark bay was competed by Ellen Birgitte Farbrot. In 2010 the horse was shown up to Intermediaire I level in Denmark.

The Belgian Equestrian Federation presented the three new Belgian chef d'equipes/team managers at a special press conference in Brussels. For dressage Sjef Janssen has been appointed team manager/technical advisor while Jeroen van Lent will remain chef d'equipe. Kurt Gravenmeier will manage show jumping and Mark Philips eventing. The total budget which the KBRSF allocated for all three Olympic disciplines for one year is 380,000 euro. Guess how much dressage got?!

Horses.nl reported that Dutch Grand Prix rider Thamar Zweistra lost the ride on both her GP horses. Owner Leunis van Lieren sold Truppa (by Rubiquil x Rinaldo) to South Africa and Truman (by Rubiquil x El Corona) to Japan.
