The Australian Equestrian Federation (EA) has named the qualifying events for the 2013 Equestrian Grand Final in Dressage and Jumping. The Equestrian Grand Final is a spectacular multi-discipline event held annually at Equitana in Sydney.

This year's edition takes place on 7-10 November at the Sydney Showgrounds.

This competition will showcase the ‘best of the best’ from the three Olympic disciplines.  Including nearly 50 of the top riders from around the country, this premiere event will bring together Australia’s elite Equestrian competitors in Dressage, Jumping and Exhibition Eventing.

The 2013 dressage qualifying events are as follows:

  • 21 - 23 March 2013 -  PSI Dressage & Jumping with the Stars CDI-W (Werribee, Vic)
  • 02 - 04 May  2013 -  Sydney CDI3* (Horsley Park, NSW)
  • 26 - 28 July 2013 -  Brisbane CDI (QSEC QLD)
  • 6 – 8 September 2013 -  NSW State Championships CDN (Sydney, NSW)

Dressage qualification criteria:

From the four qualifying events, the 12 combinations with the highest percentages from the Grand Prix Freestyle will automatically qualify for the Equestrian Grand Final.

To receive an invitation to the Grand Final riders will need to score a minimum of 64% in the Grand Prix Freestyle at a qualifying event

If a rider from the top 12 does not wish to compete in the Grand Final the position will be given to the next rider on the leader board (providing the rider has achieved a score over 64%)

EA will also award three wild card nominations for the event. The wild card nominations will primarily be reserved for riders who have not been able to participate in the qualifying rounds and can provide a valid written reason, however EA reserves the right to award the wild cards at their discretion.
