The World Class Programme (WCP), in partnership with British Dressage is (BD), is seeking to appoint a veterinarian to support the WCP Dressage Performance Programme and also the Senior Dressage Team.

The role is primarily about providing veterinary advice and support to the Dressage Performance Squad and Senior Dressage Team via attendance at competitions, squad sessions and especially home visits. Another key part of the role is building relationships with the veterinarians that support each of the riders.

The successful applicant will work closely with the Equine Sports Science and Medicine (ESSM) personnel who support the WCP and will be integral to building bespoke support programmes around each horse. As part of the ESSM team, the post holder will be expected to contribute to the search for performance gains, focussing on prevention rather than rehabilitation.

The Dressage Performance and Team Vet will report to the Performance Director and work closely with the Dressage Programme Manager and WCP Director of Equine Sport Science and Medicine. The role also involves periods of time away from home to travel with the Team horses to major International competitions; European Championships, World and Olympic Games.

The position is a Consultant’s post and an attractive salary is offered. Further information is available on www.bef.co.uk. Applicants should send their CV and covering letter by email to Sarah Armstrong by 15 February 2013. It is planned that interviews will take place on 27 February 2013 at or near Stoneleigh Park, Kenilworth, Warwickshire.

The post is funded by and reliant on UK Sport grant funding. The BEF is an equal opportunities organisation and welcomes all applications.
