The experienced Dutch pony rider Febe van Zwambagt and her equine partner of three years, Dr. Watson, won the first leg of the 2012-2013 KNHS FEI Pony Cup show circuit. The kick-off competition of the circuit was held at equestrian centre De Kroo on Saturday 29 December 2012 and featured a less jam-packed field of riders than usual. Twenty-four competitors rallyed at this event in preparation of the 2013 show season.
The 14-year old Van Zwambagt and her bay German Riding pony stallion Dr. Watson (by Don't Worry) scored 70.64% and edged out up and coming Lisanne Zoutendijk, who currently has three FEI ponies to ride. Aboard the 2012 European Pony Champion Champ of Class (by Champion de Luxe), she finished second with 69.68%. With her first schoolmaster Amaretto she ranked third with 68.65% and on her second schoomaster Oosteind's Rocco she finished 12th with 64.62%.
Van Zwambagt also slotted in fourth on her younger pony, the 6-year old Coco Jambo (by Champion de Luxe x Dressman), scoring 67.76%. Joelle Peters rode her new pony, the Belgian owned Haasendonck's Sultan (by Nieuwmoeds Patrick) which she leased for the season, to a fifth place with 66.99%.
