What's Happening in the Dressage World?

The parents of the Austrian FEI pony rider Nicola Ahorner acquired a brand new Ketterer lorry with double pop-out. Their exclusive white horsebox can fit 5 horses in total. Now Nicola's wonderful ponies, such as Ghost, Dornik Pur, Dornik's Donovan and junior riders' horse Florinero can travel in style. Congrats!

In an interview with Dutch equestrian magazine De Hoefslag Edward Gal reacted to the fact that Charlotte Dujardin broke his Grand Prix world record with Valegro. "It's a pity but nothing more than that. I don't lose sleep over it. It would happen one day" Gal stated. "I still have the record in the Kur, although you know that will be broken one day too. I only hope that I'll be the one to break it."

2012 North American Young Riders Champion Brandi Roenick has extended her lease on the Westfalian gelding Weltino's Magic (by Weltino x Diamond Boy) for another year. Roenick, who moved from Phoenix, AZ, to San Diego, CA to work full time for her coach Steffen Peters, will be travelling with Steffen to Europe to compete the dark bay gelding in Europe at small tour level. Steffen Peters and Weltino's Magic were the 2011 Pan American Games gold medalists. "I’m ecstatic,” the 18-year-old Brandi told Dressage-News on Tuesday night confirming that an agreement had been reached with Magic’s owners, Jen and Bruce Hlavacek of Las Vegas.

Belgian pony rider Antonia Arl has received the ride on a brand new pony: the 10-year old Westfalian mare Defilee de Mode (by Danny Gold x Nightfever). The dark bay mare was the 2008 Bundeschampion in eventing after placing in the finals the three previous years. In 2007 she finished fifth in the pony eventing category, in 2006 she was third in the 4-year old riding pony division and in 2005 she was fourth as a 3-year old. Arl is trained by Belgian coach Carmen de Bondt.

Italian former FEI pony rider Carlotta Marconi has acquired the 9-year old KWPN bred Grand Prix horse Westwind (by Jazz x Zeoliet) as future young riders horse. The bay Westwind was trained to Grand Prix level by Italian Anna Paprocka-Campanella and competed recently with Italian young rider Leonardo Tiozzo. Westwind will now continue his career under Marconi, who aims to compete at the 2013 European Young Riders Championships and later on move to the Under 25 classes. Campanella's daughter Alice has leased her 2012 European Pony Championship ride Bentley to Italian pony rider Elsa Calcaterra.

Besides Zonik and Valentino (aka Versace), Glock invested in a third new horse for the combination Minderhoud/Gal. De Hoefslag reported that the Austrian gun-company also bought the 5-year old Dutch warmblood Casper (by Westpoint x Goodtimes), which was competed in the Pavo Cup Finals last year under Fransje van der Meer. Casper finished seventh in those finals.

Long-time Dutch team rider Imke Schellekens-Bartels also has new young talent in her barn. Bartels Academy and Tim Coomand co-own Eduard, a bay Vivaldi x Contango gelding which was previously trained and competed by Jessica Buying. The latter will be riding the horse in the VSN Trophy Finals on 5 January after which Eduard will move to Imke's barn.
