Each year the KWPN society proclaims the KWPN Horse of the Year at its annual KWPN Stallion Licensing in 's Hertogenbosch. For 2012 four dressage horses - Valegro, Uthopia, Parzival, Undercover - have been nominated for this award which will be handed out on 2 February 2013.
The breeder of the best performing top KWPN horse in the world gets honoured with the Nimmerdor Trophy at the KWPN Stallion Licensing. Last February the Beijer family received the trophy for having bred Adelinde Cornelissen's Parzival, 2011 KWPN Horse of the Year.
This year the KWPN society nominated 13 horses of which 4 are dressage horses. The nominees are:

- Bubalu (by Baloubet du Rouet, breeder VDL Stud from Beers)
- Chaman (by Baloubet du Rouet, breeder Boa Agriculture BV from Enschede)
- Cizandro (by Waldemar, breeder Gebr. Den Otter from Bruchem)
- Heartbreaker (by Nimmerdor, breeder P.S. Koopmans from Bozum)
- Parcival (by Koss, breeder A.J. Heijink from Wezep),
- Parzival (by Jazz, breeder J.M. Beijer-de Kleijn from Puiflijk)
- Tamino (by Numero Uno, breeder E. ten Hoor from Hoogersmilde)
- Undercover (by Ferro, breeder M. Hendriksen-de Rijk from Lunteren)
- Uthopia (by Metall, breeder J.J. van Zetten Sr. from Kesteren)
- Valegro (by Negro, breeder J.L. Hanse from Burgh Haamstede)
- Verdi (by Quidam de Revel, breeder Veehandel Musterd from Hooge Zwaluwe)
