German media have reported that a horse swindler was arrested by police and was put in jail.  Renowned equine lawyer Stephan Wensing represents the interests of one victim who has been scammed for hundreds of thousands of euros by this horse trader/mediator and trainer from Germany.

It is now known that horses have also been vanishing in The Netherlands and has been taking quite a lot of effort to reclaim them. The first judicial proceedings have already been set in motion in The Netherlands and Germany. These also involve a horse dealer from the Dutch province Limburg.

The German newspaper Kölner Stad Anzieger reported the following on the case:

The golf course is a good place for business and this idea was shared by a 41-year-old woman from Brühl near Cologne, Germany. Through a scam and deception she succeeded in stealing large sums of money from to golf players. The damage amounts up to millions of euros.

The 41-year old from Brühl got in contact with golfers through her partner. This way she met many rich people who were not afraid of a profitable investment. The woman, who is already known to the police as an imposter in other cases, let the golfers to believe that she is a successful dressage rider and horse caretaker.

The woman from Brühl claimed to train the horses in a specific way, so she would make huge profits when these horses were sold. Because of her neat appearance, the proper way they kept themselves and the renowned reputation of her partner she was able to persuade investors that she had good investment opportunities for them. They invested hundreds of thousands of euros, hoping for the promised returns.

It seems that the woman has been successful with this scam since last December. She initially liked to pay small amounts of profits to the investors which she took from funds she received from new investors. This way she wanted to keep the investors hungry for more.

The police stated, "we assume that the woman actually never intended to invest any of the money."

At this time the police knows of twelve victims that were deceived for more than a million euro, but the police does not exclude that there may be more victims. The partner of the woman is also being accused.

The home of the fugitive swindler and the offices of her partner were briefly searched. On Monday, the woman was arrested. The judge has issued an arrest warrant.
