Former British Olympic team rider Laura Fry lost her battle against cancer and passed away Wednesday morning 26 September 2012. Laura was an international dressage rider, trainer and mom to British FEI Pony Team rider Charlotte Fry. She was 45 years old.

Laura was diagnosed with breast cancer a few years ago and successfully battled the disease. She went into remission but unfortunately the cancer returned in the summer.

Fry was the owner of Aike Grange Stud in Aike, East Yorkshire, a highly respected training and livery yard.

Aboard the Belgian warmblood Quarryman (by Isengrain x Cobbler's Thread)  she was a member of the British team which competed at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, Spain.  She finished seventh with the team and 29th individually. At the 1993 European Dressage Championships in Lipica, Fry won team silver and finished fourth in the Grand Prix Kur to Music. The pair represented Great Britain again at the 1994 World Equestrian Games in The Hague.

In 1995 Fry published the educational book "Discovering Dressage" with Ward Lock publishers.

Almost one year ago to the date, Laura's father-in-law and described as the linchpin of Fry Dressage died on 22 September 2011 of cancer. He was chief groundsman at the centre and very involved in the family business.

Most recently Fry competed Leslie Connor’s Dutch warmblood Remming, a 14-year old gelding by Flemming, as well as Julie Langlands' British bred Riviera L (by Royal Geneve). Fry and Remming became the 2012 British Winter Reserve Champions at small tour level.
