Harley of Equus and Salenstein E Top Selling Foals at KWPN Foal Auctions

Harley of Equus and Salenstein E became the top selling foals at the 2012 KWPN Foal Auctions held in Etten-Leur on 13 September 2012 and in Dronten on 14 September 2012.

At the Brabant Foal Auction in Etten-Leur, the colt Harley of Equus (by Furstenball x Donnerhall s Furioso S) became the price highlight, selling for 11,000 euro to Willeke Bos, the former owner of licensed stallion Vitalis. The second most expensive foal was the filly Happy Murona (by Negro x Johnson x Vincent) which sold for 8,250 euro.

Belgian stallion owner Paul Mais acquired the most expensive jumping foal, colt Supertof (by Stakkato x Carthago x Lord) for 7,500 euro. Horses.nl reported that Egbert Schep, Adelinde Cornelissen and her life partner Sjaak van der Lei bought the jumper filly Halestra V (by Zavall x Krunch de Breve) for 3,000 euro. The average price for a foal at this auction was 3,859 euro.

At the foal auction in Dronten the Oldenburg bred colt Salenstein E (by Sir Donnerhall I x Wolkentanz II) became the top selling foal. Eugene Reesink acquired the colt for 20,000 euro. Breeder and stallion owner Gert Willem van Norel acquired the colt Haressel (by Uphill x Hemmingway) for 12,000 euro, while Handsome O (by Johnson x Rousseau) sold for 10,500 euro. This colt will be reared at Jan Brouwer's place.

Despite these strong prices many foals did not sell and the average price was 4,208 euro. A few more foals achieved decent prices. The colt Holswilder (by Charmeur x Flemmingh) sold for 8,500 euro. The colt Humphrey (by Cover Story x Argentinus) achieved a knock down price of 7,500 euro while filly Hillary (by Charmeur x Houston) sold for 6,200 euro.
