At the 2012 Dressage New Zealand Conference this weekend the position of Chair for the Dressage New Zealand Committee will be voted upon. Scott McKenna, the North Island Riders' Representative, has been nominated for the position.

The North Island Riders Representative holds the right to vote on all nominations and remitted.

Due to the perception of the North Island Riders Representative voting on a board position for which he has been nominated, Scott McKenna has asked Alicia Collin to represent the riders, on the vote for Chairperson only.

"I appreciate that their may be some concerns around  transparency by Scott requesting  me directly do to this," Collin explained. "As NI Riders Representative, he  has asked me to do this on his behalf because of how it could be perceived if he voted for the position of Chairperson, and also logistically because I am attending Conference,  and noting there is no riders meeting,  or time,  in the interim period for riders to nominate a substitute for him. I can assure you that I pride myself on my integrity, and will take into account the views of Dressage riders and the needs of the sport from a riders perspective when casting this vote.  I am doing this in the best interest in the sport. I love this sport and I want all dressage riders  where possible, to have the opportunity to  forward their views to me re this forthcoming election, and to have confidence in how this  vote will be dealt with at Conference."
