Belgian FEI rider Michel Toussaint has lost his small tour horse Workington to colic. The 11-year old Hanoverian (by Waterford x Werther) suffered from an acute colic attack and could not be saved.

The chestnut gelding was immediately transported to the equine clinic, but the veterinarians discovered the damage was too severe. Workington was euthanized Thursday morning 24 May 2012.

In 2011 Swiss Celine Michaed competed the chestnut gelding for his Czech owner Ladislav Umlauf and Toussaint acquired Workington in the winter of 2011. The Belgian duo made its national show debut at the beginning of the year with top scores in Aalter and Hasselt. They had planned on competing at the CDIO Saumur in April, but an injury prevented them from going.

"Workington was an international calibre small tour horse reaching 70%," Toussaint's wife Celine Anciaux told Eurodressage. "Michel bought him at the end of last year and together they were up for a promising future."
