Jurgen Koschel has been appointed "Discipline Trainer" by the German Equestrian Federation and will be assisting "chief" team trainer Jonny Hilberath in the coaching of the German Olympic short listed riders until the 2012 Olympic Games.
While no press release has been issued by the German FN, the German Press Agency DPA reported the news of Koschel's appointment, citing Klaus Roeser, chair of the German Dressage Selection Committee and chef d'equipe of the German Grand Prix team.
Hilberath used to be the discipline trainer but was promoted to chief trainer following the sudden deather of German team trainer Holger
Schmezer at the 2012 World Cup Finals.
The 65-year old Hagen based Jurgen Koschel has years of experience as national team trainer. He has coached the Finnish, Spanish, Dutch and Swiss dressage team in the past. Koschel is also head of the training of the German Under 25 team riders.
Koschel trains Olympic candidate Kristina Sprehe on Desperados and will not be involved in the nomination of the German Olympic Team.
