FEI riders of several European nations were battling it out in the pony ranks at the international youth riders competition in Roosendaal, The Netherlands, on 4 - 6 May 2012. With a huge field of Dutch competitors assembled, a minority of German, British and Belgian had to put up a tough fight for top honour.
While the Dutch pony elite swapped places in five out of six test, the opening CDIO Team Test was won by British 14-year old Erin Williams on the chunky German Riding Pony mare Dynasty (by Deinhard B) with a 72.735%. She fended off Holland's number one pony rider Sanne Vos on the buckskin Champ of Class (by Champion de Luxe) who finished second with 72.735%. The experienced Vos went on to place second again in the individual test (73.780%) and win the Kur to Music finals on Sunday with 75.25%, in which Williams was the runner-up with a 72.833% score. Dutch Jelle Peeters and the Welsh bred Den Ostriks Dailan (by Leuns Veld Lord) remained on the heels of the top two finishers with a third place in the team test (72.692%) and a victory in the individual (73.780%). In the kur, however, the pair dropped to a 9th place with 67.791%.
In the CDI tour of the pony division Rosalie Bos is making her mark with her new rising star, the 6-year old chestnut Paso Double (by Bodo). The combination was already the reserve champions at the 2012 Dutch Indoor Pony Championships and is clearly knocking at the door of Dutch pony chef d'equipe Tineke Bartels for a spot on the pony team. Bos won the CDI team test with 70.085%, was fourth in the individual with 69.430% and third in the combined CDI & CDIO Kur to music with 72.666%. Belgian based Dutch new comer Susanna van Raamsdonk has been climbing the ladder with the Belgian owned New Forest Pony Haasendonk's Sultan. She won the Individual test with 70.406%. Her pony Sultan was the winner of the bronze medal at the 2008 European Pony Championships in Avenches, Switzerland.
