2012 CDI Mannheim

The 2012 CDI Mannheim was able to attract a considerably larger group of Grand Prix riders this year because of its beneficial calendar date in the qualification period in the lead up to the 2012 Olympic Games. An official selection event for the Australian Olympic Shadow team as well as a paralympic selection trial, the CDI Mannheim started on Friday 4 April with a national Nurnberger Burgpokal qualifier.

While Great Britain is getting flooded by perpetual rain, Mannheim on Friday was virtually tropical and riders put on polo shirts and fly caps to warm up their horses for the action on Saturday.

Eurodressage reporter Silke Rottermann is on the scene and took this selection of photos of Grand Prix riders training their horses and Germans competing in the Prix St Georges Special. 2011 World Young Horse Championship and 2011 Bundeschampionate silver medal winning Damon Jerome (by Damon Hill x Guy Laroche) made his S-level debut in Mannheim and won the Nurnberger Burgpokal warm up test with a 70.088 % score.
