Austrian Grand Prix rider Nikolaus Erdmann lost his number one Grand Prix ride, Danny Wilde, to colic last week. The 16-year old Rhinelander licensed breeding stallion.

Danny Wilde was born in 1996 and was by Donnerwind out of Messina (by Mephistopheles x Burnus AA). Gestut Vorwerk acquired Danny Wilde  at the 2000 CHIO Sales in Aachen for top money.

He garnered his first fame as a sport horse under American Lisa Wilcox. In February 2005 the chunky dark bay moved to Dr. Hans Joachim Erdmann in Austria.

Under Nikolaus Erdmann Danny Wilde moved from Prix St Georges level to Grand Prix and represented Austria at the 2009 European Championships in Windsor.
