Twenty-three nations so far have registered for particaption in the 10th World University Equestrian Championships held at Aachen, Germany, on 22 – 26 August 2012. Teams of Ireland, Great Britain, Japan, France, Switzerland, Canada, the
Netherlands, and Germany will run at this year’s WUEC. These are the
most successful nations in student equestrianism.

“This means, that the WUEC in Aachen has already reached the number of participants of previous university championships”, says Daniel Armbruster with delight. “To many riders it is very special to be running at the worldly-known Soers in Aachen. It is considered as the flagship of international equestrianism. Therefore, I am certain that this university championship will be well-staffed: quantitatively and qualitatively.”

All teams have the goal of defending their leading role. Although seldomly represented in student equestrianism, teams of Guatemala, New Zealand or Romania will also show their skills in the German Bank Stadium.

The present number of applications reflects the attractiveness of the CHIO sports grounds as well as good international promotion. The Organizing Committee of the university championship is looking forward to meeting teams from all over the world. It works at full speed to provide an unforgettable event.

World University Equestrian Championships are held every 2 years and the 2012 edition is the 10th held to date. The championships are not run by the FEI but are run under the sanction of FISU, the International University Sport Federation.

The World University Championships are a borrowed horse event, at which teams of 3 riders compete both in show jumping (1.40 m) and dressage (prix st Georges). All riders compete in both disciplines.

Competitors are between the ages of 17 and 28 as of 1st January 2012 and are studying at a tertiary institution (university, polytechnic or wananga) either full-time or part-time or have satisfactorily completed their degree within 12 months of the event.
