German dressage team trainer Holger Schmezer died unexpectedly yesterday evening in his hotel room in 's Hertogenbosch, where he was for the 2012 World Cup Finals.
The cause of death is not yet known.
The 65-year old recently announced his retirement as team coach after the London Olympics.
Schmezer leaves behind a wife and 6-year old daughter.
