Prijs Vitale and Wiedeler in Front at 2012 CHIO Cup Qualifier in Assen

Dutch Italian Chiara Prijs-Vitale and Dutch Teddy Wiedeler won the junior and young riders division at the 2012 CHIO Cup Qualifier for Dutch Junior and Young Riders held at Sunrise Stables in Assen, The Netherlands, on Sunday 25 March 2012. Prijs-Vitale grabbed her second victory in this show circuit, while Wiedeler took her first trophy in the qualifier with her new horse.

Junior rider Chiara Prijs-Vitale and Michele Betti's Oldenburg mare Hot Chocolate (by Sandro Hit x Landstreicher) were a league of their own in their division, being the sole combination to score above 70%. Only 10 out of 26 combinations scored above 65%. Suzanne van de Ven and her mare Donna Gracia (by Donnerschlag) were in second place with 67.70% but they had Justine Mudde on the Swedish chestnut Fairytale (by Cortus) on their heels. Tension in the canter work kept them from scoring higher than 67.43% to slot in third

Judge Ad Vroom commented that "Chiara rode a very good test with an excellent trot tour which show much cadence and a good tempo."

In the Young Riders division Teddy Wiedeler, a former Dutch Junior team rider and now a college student at the University of Amsterdam, topped the leader board with 68.64% aboard her new acquisition, the Hanoverian Walyambo (by Weltmeyer). The highlight of her test was the trot work with its nice lateral movements. Lotte Jansen and the Dutch warmblood gelding Tappel (by Havel) were second with 68.11%, followed by Michelle van Lanen on her long legged liver chestnut Urchin B (by Jazz) with 67.81%

Judge Van der Meulen-van den Engel said that "in general we saw a group with nice combinations and impressive horses. The riders at the bottom of the ranking mainly lost points for their punctuation and they need to ride more precise. As soon as they have experience in this, their scores will rise."
