Trakehner Breeding News

The stallion free jumping is a central component of the Trakehner approvals at Neumünster’s Holstenhalle and the young candidates this year made sure there was a great atmosphere on the second day of the approval event.

Petra Wilm, chairman of the Trakehner Association, was very happy with the quality of the stallions: “We can ascertain that the stallions which attracted attention for their jumping quality in the past have definitely passed that quality on to their progeny. In general we are seeing more strength in the young stallions and it is that strength that horses need to jump. We are very happy with this development.” There were many candidates that raised great interest with their scopey jump and remarkable overview.

And every once in a while a true dressage candidate caused a rush of “Ah`s and Oh`s” to be heard through the audience. For example there was the sporty and stylish black stallion Hancock, a son of the Vice World Champion for Young Dressage Horses – Imperio – who proved on Friday that he has more than enough jumping talent. His sire Imperio shines in the dressage ring, currently under Hubertus Schmidt, the Team World Champion 2006, and both horse and rider are two of the guests for the gala show of the 49th Trakehner Stallion Market on Saturday evening at 8 p.m.. According to Schmidt: “I would like to present Imperio at Intermediaire I and II level because he can do it and I’m very happy with this horse.”

Hancock’s grandsire on his dam’s side is the elite stallion Münchhausen from the Wiesenhof Stud. Münchhausen was a European Championship participant himself as a member of Danish dressage team and will be honoured as Trakehner Stallion of the Year during the Gala Evening. When we examine Hancock’s pedigree even further it shows that his great grandsire is Sixtus and his great great grandsire is Habicht, both with prominent jumping genes. It’s just one of many family story examples of how carriers can really begin at the Trakehner Stallion Market in Neumünster.

The mare, riding horses and foal auction is one of the highlights of the third day of the Trakehner Stallion Market. There were already many spectators for the first presentation.

Guests from approximately 20 countries have travelled to the 49th Trakehner Stallion Market. As consolation for all those who had to stay at home: The horse sport portal ClipMyHorse.TV will be live streaming all of the action at the Holstenhalle with exception of the gala show.
