Since 2009 the Oslo Horse Show annually hosts a Pink Ribbon dressage show as fundraiser for breast cancer reseach. This year the Pink Ribbon Show reached new heights with a 10,000 euro donation by Paul Schockemohle and a new ambassador horse being named.
In 2004 Carina Carlsen's mum was diagnosed with severe breast cancer but recovered thanks to her love for horses. "This kept her going when she felt like giving up," Carlsen told Eurodressage. In 2009 Carina contacted the biggest cheerleader of Norwegian dressage, Elizabeth Farbrot, with whom she set up the Pink Ribbon Show at the CDI/CSI Oslo.
The Pink Ribbon show is a Prix St Georges kur to music demo in which the riders are dressed up, preferably in pink.
The 2011 edition of the show reached new heights as Trine Hillermann Stiansen of Tailormade Horses was able to get a set of Totilas shoes, fresh from last week, which will be auctioned during the CDI Oslo to raise funds.
Trine also acquired an FEI dressage horse from Bettina Schockemohle, which she renamed Tailormade Mr. Pink. "He was not really for sale, but because he was sold for a very good cause, Bettina agreed to sell him," Carlsen explained.
Yesterday at the Edward Gal clinic hosted at the 2011 CDI Oslo, Tailormade's Terje Pedersen surprised everyone by entering the arena with Mr Pink and offering him as new future ride to Ellen Birgitte Farbrot (daughter of Elizabeth). The shocked and surprised rider immediately mounted the horse and got the chance to ride in the Gal clinic for 20 minutes.
