As New Zealand riders gear up for the Region G/F Olympic Qualifier in Sydney, Dressage NZ has received a substantial grant from the Pelorus Trust to assist with team travel and accommodation for this all important event. Sadly for Ottillie Upshall, Tama Park Bradman has suffered a slight tweak in training and has been withdrawn as travelling reserve for the NZL team to compete in Sydney at the end of the month.
They have been replaced by Owhango’s Kieryn Walton & Saraceni.
Vanessa Way & KH Arvan have already landed safely in Sydney in preparation for a competition at Clarendon this weekend. They are based at Clemens Dierks Aracadia property
Louisa Hill is making good a good recovery from the broken hand suffered in late July and she & Nicky Pope (Fabarchie) have been training with German based Andreas Meuller. This pair fly out on October 16th and will join Way at the Dierks stable.
On 20 October 2011, Cambridge based Shiwon Green & Gosh and Walton with Saraceni fly to Sydney and will go straight to the magnificent SIEC venue near Horsley Park.
The Australian Championships, which hosts the Olympic qualifier, begin on Thursday 27 October 2011, but the team horses will not be permitted to start in the Int II and will be fresh up for Friday’s Grand Prix.
The Australians have clearly committed to fielding a team, but the position of the Japanese and South African participation at the second leg in Ermelo (NED) early the following week is not yet clear.
