An Uphill colt and Chopin filly were named champions at the 2011 Austrian Foal Championships held in Stadl Paura on 15 August 2011. The championship started on Monday morning at 9 AM and a large crowd gathered to watch the Austrian warmblood bred foals battle it out.
In the colt category Josef Sturzlinger's Uphill colt out of State Premium Mare Synfonie (by Almox Prints J x Landgraf) was unbeatable as he scored 10 for type, 9.5 for conformation and 10 for gaits. With a total of 29.5, he stayed well ahead of the reserve champion Perfect, a Peron M colt out of Inschella (by Pablo x Inschallah AA). Bred by Josef Ratzinger, this colt scored 9.5 for type and conformation and 9 for gaits.
In the filly category the black Dara (by Chopin (Contendro x Almox Prints J) out of Dina) was first in the championship ring. Even though Leopold Kalteis' breeding product scored the same amount of points (29) as the second and third placed foal, Dara was considered the best one. She beat Wetten Dass (by Boston (by Jazz x Flemmingh) out of Werrena (by Wenzel x Carbid)). Bred by Ferdinand Sanladerer, this filly placed second after having scored 9.5 for type and conformation and 10 for gaits. She is owned by Teresa Rochelt.
